Originally from Welland, Ontario, Dan decided to start things up in Toronto
after college. He currently resides and works there. Since moving there, and
in just under three years, he's managed to open for Lady Dana, and been billed
alongside the likes of Sam Punk, Lenny Dee , Mark Tyler, Madam Zu, Delirium, Paladin 5.1, and many more.
Bacchus was a pioneer playing in the genres of Ravecore, and a member of Ravecore Records. Looking for records to mix with ravecore, he had been pointed to Hardstyle in late 2002. Bacchus has now made a name for himself locally and among hardstyle lovers worldwide. With a motto of "All things Hard", Bacchus can be heard playing everything from Hard Trance and Hardstyle to all forms of Techno. And Recently, what started as a way to spice up the 4/4 he's been known to play, Bacchus has entered the realm of Break Beats. He thought to himself, "If all the hardcore DJ's mash-up jungle with their hardcore, and the club DJ's who have removed the once non-existant line between genres... Why isn't anybody doing this at the 140-150 tempo?" And so, it's been done. With a weekly residency as a Breaks DJ of Toronto's General Misconduct Entertainment, Bacchus has refined his skills as a breaks DJ, and has been constantly adding floor killin' tracks to his current arsenal. Having been booked alongside some of the biggest international and local names in hard music, Bacchus has become known as one of Toronto's dominant Hardstylers. Expect everything from crazy Acid lines, bangin' drums, distorted stynths and big bass when seeing Bacchus perform live. Recently, working in the studio, getting ready to release some major hard melodic tunes.
Bacchus has made a name for himself in Toronto's rave scene as multi-genre DJ that enjoys building sets that take people places. In that domain, he's recognized with playing scorching acid lines, distorted synths, phat basses and hard kicks. His recent project with longtime Toronto trance producer, Aponaut's Tarl Armes & Alex Beckett, Acid-XS has their first release as as the flagship record on Also Records, an upcoming label ran by German hard trance superstart Uberdruck, who are also providing a remix for this release.
But with a long time love and constantly growing collection of breaks and house, you'll hear a complete different side of Bacchus, which focuses on funky beats, electro synths and catchy lyrics that are bound to keep the heaviest feet tapping. With a weekly residency as a Breaks DJ of Toronto's General Misconduct Entertainment, and a newfound spot on The Bassteaser roster - Bacchus has refined his skills as a breaks and house DJ, and to establish hiself as a name for those who dig the funk'n party tunes.
